Zwei Tage konnte man am vergangenem Wochenende am Kemnader See im Bochumer Ruhrtal Greifvögel bei Flugvorführungen bestaunen, neueste Produkte er optischen Industrie begutachten, sich über Reisen in die Welt der Vögel informieren und selbst bei Exkursionen und Werkstätten Vögel beobachten und fotografieren. „Obwohl wir umgestellt haben auf eine zweitägige Dauer konnten wir mit rund 6000 noch etwas mehr Besucher feststellen, als im vorigen Jahr an drei Tagen!", so Stefan Munzinger, Sprecher der Veranstalter. Ein besonderer Höhepunkt stellte für die fortgeschrittenen Vogelbeobachter das Auftreten eines Schlangenadlers dar, der kurz über dem Vogelfestival kreiste und sich dann nach Nordwest verabschiedete. Schlangenadler werden pro Jahr vielleicht drei- oder viermal in Deutschland gesehen, ansonsten kommen sie im mediterranen Raum und in Südosteuropa vor. „Kommen - Treffen - Staunen" wird als Titel im kommenden Jahr gleich für drei Vogelfestivals gelten. Neben dem Ruhrtal sind der Bodensee und das Steinhuder Meer weitere Standplätze für Vogelfestivals. Veranstalter der Vogelfestivals sind der jeweilige Landesverband des Naturschutzbundes (NABU), das Magazin VÖGEL und lokale Partner aus der Touristik.
