Das Steinhuder Meer ist Deutschlands größter Flachwassersee und Kernstück des 310 Quadratkilometer großen „Naturparks Steinhuder Meer“. Insbesondere für Zugvögel ist das Steinhuder Meer ein wichtiger Rast- und Überwinterungsplatz. Seit 1976 ist das Steinhuder Meer ein Feuchtgebiet von internationaler Bedeutung! Das Steinhuder Meer ist zudem ein bekanntes und gut besuchtes Urlaubsziel. Der Veranstaltungsplatz befindet am Südufer des Sees im Bereich, direkt auf der Seepromenade des zentralen Ferienortes Steinhude. Mitveranstalter ist der NABU Landesverband Niedersachsen. The Steinhuder Meer is Germany’s largest shallow lake and the heart of the 310 square kilometre “Nature Park Steinhuder Meer.” The Steinhuder Meer is an important resting and wintering location, especially for migratory birds. Since 1976, the Steinhuder Meer has been a wetland area of international significance! It is also a well-known and well-visited vacation destination. The location is on the south shore of the lake in an area that is directly on the boardwalk at the centre of the resort Steinhude. The vogelfestival steinhuder meer 2010 begins on 7th August (Saturday) and ends on 8th August (Sunday). The Lower Saxon association of the Naturschutzbund is the co-organizer. Das vogelfestival ruhr findet am gleichen Platz wie schon 2008 statt: Am Nordufer des Kemnader See im Ruhrtal südlich von Bochum. Der Kemnader See wurde in den siebziger Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts durch einen Aufstau der Ruhr zu Naherholungszwecken geschaffen und 1980 eingeweiht. Heute ist der See nicht nur ein attraktives Naherholungsziel, sondern auch ein wichtiger Lebensraum für zahlreiche Wasservögel. Interessante Naturbeobachtungen direkt vom Platz des vogelfestival aus sind deshalb auch hier garantiert. Der Veranstaltungsplatz befindet am Nordufer des Sees im Bereich des Freizeitzentrums Kemnader See. Bei gutem Wetter ist es am Wochenende Ziel tausender von Freizeitsportlern und Naturinteressierten, wie auch der Erfolg des vogelfestivals in 2008 und 2009 an dieser Stelle eindrucksvoll dokumentierte. Lake Kemnade was created for recreational purposes in the 1970s by damming the Ruhr and was inaugurated in 1980. Today the lake is not only an attractive, local recreation destination, but also an important habitat for numerous waterfowl. Interesting nature observations are also practically guaranteed directly from this vogelfestival location. The location is on the north shore of the lake in the area of the lake’s recreation centre. In nice weather, thousands of recreational athletes and nature lovers flock here, as demonstrated by the striking success of the 2008 and 2009 vogelfestival at this location. The North Rhine/Westphalian association of the Naturschutzbund is the co-organizer.
